saddles and spectators
i left this video alone for a few months and then watched it 8 times in a row again today.
which leads me to these shoes:
asymmetrical spectator shoes that they all wear in the video. they're by george esquivel and i doubt i'll ever find them in vancouver.
speaking of vancouver, i've been debating getting a pair of bass saddle shoes. i tried on a pair at gravity pope but after getting a good closeup view of the esquivel ones on the website i don't think i want these anymore:

family pictures
my cousin just scanned a giant pile of family photos.
this one of my aunt from the 80's is totally ace. there it is again, a red scarf on a hiking trip. i am totally going to copy her entire outfit. her boots even match her sweater and scarf. PACIFIC NORTHWEST 4EVER.

a peace treaty
meticulously and exquisitely hand embroidered by 200 widows in afghanistan.
my favourite scarf is a peace treaty scarf. i have a feeling it will last me the rest of my life.
i think that first one pictured will be a gift to myself when i find myself employed again.
by a peace treaty.

shorts weather
i think i'll go try to find a new pair of denim shorts today. i have two pairs: one's too big and one's too small. this length and wash by masscob would be perfect.

photo monday: pacific coast trail
i found these images via needsupply via jakedavis.
i think the shift to synthetic fabrics in the self-propelled outdoor universe has also meant a shift towards totally ugly hiking apparel. these vintage photos are tempting me to go backpacking with cotton shorts and t-shirts and striped wool sweaters and a red bandanna tied around my neck, which would be awesome for the massive amounts of sweat i make. the cotton... not so much.
He says, "It's so interesting how they're all wearing a uniform in their own unique way and the whole scene feels like a lookbook"... "It's real and has absolutely nothing to do with fashion. I think that's why I like it so much..." See the rest of the photos here.

i don't like pants
which is why i like jumpsuits.
i already have a tunic that kind of looks like this, except it's kind of stiff. i'm not really a green person but i like seafoam. also, i like seafoam with burgundy. i don't think i would wear all these things together if i owned them all, but it could probably work that way.

westcoast this with that
I would like to have this draped-front grey hoodie by makool. And I would wear it at a weekend at Treehouse Point.

walk in the woods
i feel like this Shopbop lookbook has my name written all over it and makes me want a pair of worn-in brown leather lace-up oxford boots even though i've never been able to fit my legs into a pair so slim. look at it! military style jackets, lumberjack plaid tunics, boyfriend jeans, and shorts with tights!

stella mccartney for gap kids
marcia, we each need to produce a baby by november so we can buy some veggie-friendly clothes and shoes for them by stella mccartney.
too bad it had to be a partnership with The Gap, the most boring place on the planet. but that probably means it'll be more affordable than regular stella mccartney items. i prefer her adidas line, anyway, which lies somewhere in the middle of the affordability spectrum.

hunting wabbits
speaking of shooting animals in the woods with your dog pals, i passed by the Roots store on 4th avenue today after my physio appointment and briefly saw this jumper in the window on a mannequin, styled with a jacket and a purse and possibly a pair of jeans.
i was upset i couldn't find it on the website, but then i realized i wasn't looking in the right category. it's actually a nightshirt but it was styled very cleverly as something wearable during the day.
and damn rights i'd wear this during the day. nightshirt my ass. most of you know i love things that look like aprons, potato sacks, tunics, military uniforms, maternity wear, or all of the above. this one covers a few of those categories so i might go back and try it on in the next few weeks. i would wear it with jeans or tights and a cropped jacket. and a big scarf.
also, 3/4 length sleeves! the secret window to my heart!
